Our Story

Development of Tiburon Swim Academy
In early 2017, Coach Adam decided to part ways with a local swim school due to differences in their coaching philosophies. Devastated by the news of Coach Adam’s exit, parents of current swimmers pledged to follow him wherever he decided to go next.
In November 2017, Coach Adam found a place to teach swimming inside of Boston Sports Club on Well Ave in Newton, MA. Through word of mouth only , Coach Adam was able to grow his program to 150 swimmers and hire three employees: Coach Carl, Coach Eric, and his brother Coach Dom who moved from Philadelphia to take on the bulk of the administrative work.
By early 2020, without any formal marketing or advertising, Coach Adam had hired six instructors and grew his clientele to 350 swimmers in the pool in addition to the growth of a waiting list.
Due the the pandemic, operations came to a halt and COVID-19 shut down our pool for good.
Determined to regain some normalcy, Coach Adam began renting a large home with an indoor pool in November 2020. With three coaches back on board and demand at an all-time high, we hosted 180 swimmers per week at what we began calling the “Pandemic House Pool.”
By May 2021, we found our new home inside of the Waltham Athletic Club and quickly grew to be able to accommodate 350 swimmers per week. Almost one year later, as of April 2022, we have a full roster of swim lessons and a an ever-growing waitlist.

Unstoppable growth
Since the day Coach Adam set out on his own, all of his growth can be attributed to word of mouth from happy parents of safe swimmers. Most of the first 100 swimmers taught by Coach Adam were students who “flunked out” of other swimmer schools due to what was deemed as insurmountable fear or anxiety.
With his intuitive approach to swim coaching, Coach Adam was able to teach each and every one of these students to enjoy swimming.

Vision for the Future
Our hope is to be able to continue to teach swimming lessons and also break into the club team scene with our own competitive swim team.
