FAQ
Equipment FAQs
-
Equipment either helps get a swimmer engaged or supports their needs. Its use is always driven by the needs of the individual swimmer. We use kickboards, pool noodles, barbells, diving toys, and other fun toys. The only equipment used consistently is the Island which is a platform that sits in the middle of the lane.
-
Swimmers should bring a towel, goggles if they prefer to use them, water footwear to enter the pool deck, a bathing suit, and a swim diaper if needed.
-
We do not use floaties or bubbles. We believe that they are an enabling device for most swimmers and slow down the independent swim process. Similar to training wheels on a bike, we believe they are an unnecessary step in the learning process.
Facility FAQs
-
We keep the pool at a tropical 87 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Parents should drop their children at the lane if they wish or at the door with the deck teacher. Then they can head to the waiting room to observe the lessons from the TV.
-
We currently teach our lessons inside of the Waltham Athletics Club. Their amenities include swimsuit dryers, private changing rooms, and showers to rinse off.
-
Not right now, but we hope to be able to accommodate private parties in the future.
Swim Lesson FAQs

Generally the lesson size depends on the abilities and needs of the swimmer. If a student is not yet swimming, they will attend individual lessons until a coach recommends otherwise.
-
We have two seasons - one that runs September - May and one that runs during the summer months. We will book everyone for a fall start and then swimmers can move up freely throughout the season as needed.
